Military: Battle
The initial, lackluster frontal assault on Jurejun by the Saltkrigere that resulted in a loss for the fleet.
While the Saltkrigere were experienced, they couldn't win without the home advantage fo the dense fog and rough terrain. Initially using the galleys to transport large amounts of men in an attempt to overrun the Jurejuns, they quickly realized just how many people Kanel had been banishing. Without the metal armaments that humans would lack for the foreseeable future, their spears and clubs were no match for the arrows of the Jurejun families. The banished criminals had grown somewhat adapted to the fog and in tune with the environment. They used the trees as cover and height, funneled unaware men into dense guisers for scolding, and even used the hallucinogenic tree-sand to their advantage. The Saltkrigere had no tolerance to the hallucinogens, resulting in heightened fear, paranoia, and lack of awareness. Two of their ships were burned on a retreat, leaving them abandoned at the western shore. It became clear that a new plan would be required to beat them.
