Manoine (Man-wine)

Manoines are one if Silse's megafauna. With a general elephantine shape, they have 2 downward turned tusks and one which juts forward (beneath their chin) and a fleshy, fat, protruding forehead.
They tend to travel across lower mountain regions, using their set of tusks to assist in climbing. It is theorized that their foreheads assist in picking up sounds from above, such as collapsing rocks. The manoines were originally herded by the nukin, themselves nearly hunted to extinction by elves. This mutualistic existence offered manoines fairly little in terms of substance, aside from increased access to foods which were found outside the range of lower mountains.
The majority of manoines are now owned by the Eastern Elves, who breed them as mounts for various purposes, but sell them the J'barri as well. The Eastern Elves possess a subspecies which has been domesticated and relies on the relationship. The species of the west are not domesticated, after the Western Elves failed attempts to plunder nukin resources.
Many attempts have been made to breed the manoine with the elephants of Renad, usually yielding lackluster results.
