The heart of darkness

The party now turned toward the other horn. After finding some preserved dead bodies they follow the corridor a long way deeper and deeper into the darkness. Until they reached a large cavern. In the middle of it a creature awaited them, obscured in darkness it spoke in their minds, as it moved they discerened four legs two wings and a horned head (that of a black dragon). Before this creature could slaughter them Amriel appeared and the two jumped into a vicious fight to the death. The party ran up a winding path on the edge of the cavern with several shadows following them. As they moved they entered what appeared to be a huge underground city. Its streets littered with dead bodies. The shadows moved into the bodies and started following the party. They found staircases leading up and what they hoped would be an exit.

What they found was a hexagonal room with 4 archways, as they explored they realized those portals are fueled by ethereal shards (like the one found in a phase spiders leg). They inserted one into the middle portal which lit up and they ran through as the room became filled with walking corpses.   The party now found themselves in another hexagonal room with six identical portalways and severel exits. As they exited they found what appeared to be a marketplace still stocked with goods. And on one end they could see a way out and a ray of light. They exited and found out they were on top of a mountain, specificaly at the The Old Capital.
