Ukungu

Scattered among the islands west of the Middle Continent and some of the coastline, Ukungu is the least populated of the Seven Kingdoms and the most mysterious. Wizard traditions here are incredibly strong and often competitive, with multiple academies and institutions pushing the limits of magical knowledge and application. The islands and coastal settlements are heavily shaped by the wizards they support, and even the gods are different flavors of magical deity.   More a confederation of cities than a unified nation, Ukungu's defense lies in magic and misdirection. The islands themselves can rarely even be found by would-be invaders, and only the most magically savvy pirates can operate in these waters. Wizards rule the cities, often by council with varying charters and constitutions, and wizards alone are political beings in each city.

Structure

Wizard governments are the norm here, and vary slightly from city to city. Unlike the Jagged Sea's city-states, Ukunguns feel a closer bond through their shared culture, and tend to resolve issues through wizard duels or games instead of outright hostilities.

Public Agenda

Ukungu wants to explore magic as thoroughly as possible, and will often trade for magical secrets. That they don't seem to be very scrupulous as to the sources of these secrets is a cause for concern among some others in the Seven Kingdoms.

Assets

Warmachines are rare here, but Ukungu has the most skyships per person of any nation in the world. In terms of magical knowledge, Ukungu is rivaled only by the elves.

History

The islands have long been a source of potent magic, as for some reason the limited prana here naturally draws energies from the Girdle more easily. Different wizarding schools popped up around the area, and as their neighbors began to solidify into nations, the wizards started to do the same out of pragmatism.
