Mtiwamikuki

Wedged between the Leviathan Mountains to the east and the sea to the west, Mtiwamikuki is a long, narrow country of mostly desert. The natural resources and arable land of the nation are sparse, and this has bred a fierce outlook in the people here, who have become some of the hardiest warriors in the world. Despite the sharp contrast between those who dwell in cities and the nomads of the desert, Mtiwamikuki is united in its martial culture and veneration of the sun.   Neither the Republic nor its vassals in the east have ever attempted to cross the mountains and engage with Mtiwamikuki, but the peoples here have an excellent relationship with the dwarves of the Leviathan Mountains, and have gone to the west to fight often. The expansionist aim of the Republic is well known to all in the Seven Kingdoms, and the warriors of Mtiwamikuki see no reason to wait for the problem to come to them when it's ready. Armed with dwarven steel and employing cunning tactics refined over centuries of constant tribal warfare, initial forays by Mtiwamikuki have been wildly successful, and the food acquired on raids has been a tremendous bonus.

Structure

The cities each have a lord in charge, with varying methods of selection for this position. Nomads defer to elders in their tribe, and there isn't really a central authority to the country, though the priesthood of the sun does a lot to tie the culture together. Though no organized effort to defend the nation would likely be made, the individual tribes are fierce and several could potentially unite, combining their incredible tenacity in the desert with ingenius tactics to bring down invading forces.

Public Agenda

The people of Mtiwamikuki are chiefly concerned with the prosperity of their families on a day-to-day basis. This infrequently involves broad politics or global ambitions, though some merchant families in the cities have started to exhibit greater aspirations.

Assets

The nation is fairly poor overall, with only a handful of warmachines and skyships and little national economy to speak of. Trade is on a small scale here, but living in the desert and learning its harsh lessons has helped the people here considerably, as the land can support them but no others.

History

No real founding date exists because most Mtiwamikukians consider their loyalty to be tribal, and paid little attention to other nations declaring them a country. Their history is fraught with tribal warfare as the peoples fought over oases and food sources; though fertile lands to the north have (rather generously) been left alone by Ardhiyakifo, no other lands in this country have encouraged a coordinated invasion, and the few coastal cities that stand out as tempting jewels quickly proved to not be worth the hassle once conquered.
