Fedhangao

Dominating most of the western peninsula of the Middle Continent is Fedhangao, a prosperous country of well ordered cities and gleaming spires on temples and palaces alike. A pantheon of gods draws most of the worship from Fedhangao and the priests of this religion hold much of the power here, if indirectly. It's the priesthood who selects the king and queen from among the nobility, and their power to excommunicate nobles ensures that few rise against them. Even if priests hold little direct political power, the nobles know whom they need to please.   No dwarven settlements survive in the small mountain ranges within the kingdom, and the mountains still have rich veins of iron ore. Fedhangao drills its soldiers in orderly combat much like the phalanxes favored in the east, though the sweeping plains provide ample grasslands for horses, and Fedhangao heavy cavalry is one of the most feared unit types in the world.    Pearl is the capital of this nation, and sits on the western side of the Sword Sea. Its position makes it an ideal hub for trade, with ample docks for sea and sky vessels. Fedhangao's laws are seen by some as rather strict, but the citizens for the most part enjoy an orderly life, and Fedhangao justice is swift.

Structure

One monarch sits on the throne (typically ruling with a consort), and is advised by the hierarchy of nobles and the ecclesiarchy of the church. Dozens of dukes, counts, viscounts, and barons all control parcels of land and jockey for political position and prestige, and duels of honor are commonplace. Below these lords and ladies are landless knights, beholden to a lord and expected to train for war at all times.   The church is also rigorously structured, with a high bishop in charge and a subordinate bishop in every city below them. Each bishop oversees several priests and monks or nuns.

Public Agenda

Fadhangao has grievances with Ardhayafiko, finding their use of undead abhorrent. Though the two nations have clashed before, currently the looming threat of the Republic has quelled any petty squables among the Seven Nations. The king and many nobles believe that the kingdoms will need to band together to effectively resist the Republic, and Fadhangao believes that it should be in charge.

Assets

Numerous warmachines and skyships help protect Fadhangao, and trade from Pearl ensures an influx of money and goods. In addition to fielding five full legions of well-trained and well armed infantry, two full legions of heavy cavalry supplement the infantry, and are among the best warriors in the world.

History

Fadhangao's history starts with the founding of Pearl three and a half thousand years ago. Initially a trading post with a wall, the city grew and eventually began absorbing local settlements, usually (but not always) peacefully. After five hundred years the boundaries of Fadhangao were set, at which time both church and monarchy agreed that the nation had reached its optimal size.
