Ruins of Zaritho

Not far to the east of Nedev, lies the Ruins of Zaritho. The ruins were discovered by the Falums during one of their many scouting expidetions once the Red Blade tribe of Goblins was eliminated as a threat. Finding the ruins was the first indication that ther was an ancient civilization that was once located in this part of the world. The ruins appear to be of a small town, with several large temple structures. Most of the structures are now overgrown and crumbling, making exploring them somewhat dangerous.   The Ruins of Zaritho have been investigated over the interveneing years by many explorers and adventurers and several major treasures have been recovered, including gold and silver jewelry and temple artefacts, statues with gems for eyes, and the occasional magic artifact. As the discoverers of the Ruins of Zaritho, the falums have been granted a writ by Baron Norcroth giving them the right to examine all treasures recovered there, and be paid twenty percent of their value.   The Ruins are reported to be laid out in almost a perfect square, with a wide, but low pyramid located at the center. As of yet no one has found an entrance into that pyramid, so it is beleived the best treasures are yet to be recovered. At one point their appears to have been several refelcting pools radiating from the pyramid to the outer boundaries of the town. Several other large buildings line those reflecting pools, but none taller than the central pyramid. Located in the center of every intersection appears to be the ruins of obelisks that are thought to be street markers or directional wayposts.   The people who lived here appear in artwork to be human or human-like, but there also appears to be a distinction between citizens and slaves. Many of the buildings explorered have lower levels that appear to be slave quarters in them, and skeletal remains might indicate that the city was abandoned after a slave revolt, or some other major battle.
