Monolith of Ivankaz

As explorers from Nedev have been working their ways deeper into the wilderness around their frontier town, then discovered what is know called the Monolith of Ivankaz. Found in the grasslands between the Fellwood and the mountains to the east of Nedev, the Monolith of Ivankaz is a fifty foot tall, hexagonal pillar that appears to be one gigantic crystal. The crystal has a circumference of 30 feet and shows no signs of weathering. The stone is a translucent violet, and when struck with enough force, the whole crystal gives of a low frequency hum. While the stone is translucent, it is not clear enough to see thigs on the other side, although bright light sources can be seen, and becuase of the facets of the crystal, they appear to be multiples of the original.   When first discovered by Ivankaz several years ago, plans were made to try and dig it up to see how deep it went. After weeks of labor-intensive shoveling, no end was found thirty feet deep into the ground. Several attempts to break off pieces of Monolith have been attempted, some by Ivankaz, and some by others who have journeyed out to examine the Monolith, but the stone seems impervious to damage and any string blow stuck against causes it to emit the hum, and often breaks the implement doing the striking.   Several wizards, holy clerics of the Light, sages and bards have been invited by Ivankaz to examine the Monolith, but all that has been concluded is that it allears natural, has no magical properties that can be detected, and is stronger than the strongest known metals. Saractel Frosthair did discover that the stone can be scratched by a diamond, but other minerals do not harm it.   Recently, it is rumored that the Druids have taken an interest in the Monolith, but Ivankaz denies they even know about it. He claims they would not be welcome as they would probaky try to claim the Monolith for themselves.
