Mutiny Port, the Refuge

I intend to shepherd every exile I can to this place so they can be protected. It is the least I can do for my most precious one that I could not.

Disdain and Remorse

In the Silver Piece Collective, pirates are known more for ruthlessness and cutthroat agendas rather than selflessness and understanding. This is especially true when they look upon the native tribe of the Curuni Nenar. Tide witches. No more than primitive savages protecting islands better left excavated for their silver. Captain Hawk, one of the four pirate lords, was once this way too.   He enjoyed nothing less than adding a new silver coin to his ever-growing hoard that, to this day, still remains concealed. All anyone ever heard of it was that it was buried deep within a coastal region consumed in treacherous rocky cliffs. And when did obtain more, he certainly didn't mind if he had to wrench it from someone's hands in the process. Yes, back then, Captain Hawk embodied every merciless tenet the Silver Piece Collective was built upon.   But everything changed at one point. He fell in love. In love with a woman who he met at the brink of starvation. She was an exile of the Curuni Nenar, and he had every inclination to rebuke and ignore her, but he just couldn't turn a blind eye here. When he fed her and took her in, she reciprocated that love, and she transformed his outlook on life. Thexeer changed him. All of a sudden, tide witches weren't tribal savages. They were no different than Captain Hawk. An equal being.   But the rest of the collective didn't care. They didn't care back then, and they didn't care the day Thexeer was killed by a band of young pirates known as the Silver Grins. Despair filled Captain Hawk. The urge to hunt them down consumed him, yet he did not act on it. He had killed so many in his life, he knew more bloodshed would not bring Thexeer. So instead, he vowed to set out on a much different quest. One he hoped would honor his love's soul.   Aboard his legendary ship, the Single Sail, he and his crew sailed the islands taking in as many exiles, as many wayfaring wanderers as they could. Doing everything he could to help them survive, Captain Hawk worked tirelessly to set up a sanctuary these lost souls could live in together. In a small cliffside cove on the northern ends of the island Manta, rugged stony huts were carved into the rock faces and a small village was birthed.   Captain Hawk was revered as its philanthropic leader. When it came time to give this place a name, he picked its true name. Refuge. However, passing ships often sailed by, and hearsay soon began to spread of this place. When the three other pirate lords learned of Captain Hawk's behavior, a different name was given to this place. Mutiny Port. To them, Captain Hawk went against the ideals of the collective. And though he did not break the creed, his actions were viewed like that of a mutiny on a ship.   Regardless, Mutiny Port is Captain Hawk's way to honor and remember his beloved. He will stop at nothing to ensure the protection of these peoples' home. And all the same, its people will never cease in their support and effort to their benevolent leader as he brings in and fosters an environment striving towards equality, goodness, and safety.   Simplistic yet vibrant architecture follow in those footsteps at Mutiny Port. Down at the rocky beaches, reaching out from the ascending stairways against the cliff face rests a single, mighty long pier known as the Saving Jetty. It is here that ships from the horizon come in to dock.   Atop the cliffs overlooking the open waters is the main village blocks titled the Haven Grounds. Overgrown paths wind through and around the many different abodes built in, on top of, and beside the tall towers of rock. And each path leads to a stairway that ascends a mountainside, leading to the people's most prized landmark. A temple made to commemorate each Kireesin of the Curuni Nenar, the Priwaiza is a holy site of holy sites.   And it shall all be preserved for time ever-lasting.

Even today, I still wear the garments of my people. In hope that I may lift my title as an exile and rejoin my tribe, I will work diligently as Hawk's advisor here. For I know my new dawn will one day come.

The Single Sail

A pirate lord's authority rests as equally upon the ship they sail as the silver pic they hold in their hand. To lose your ship is to lose your dignity, and like most traditions, you should feel obligated to go down with it.   The vessels of the pirate lords are legendary in name. Captain Hawk's is no less. The famed Single Sail is a maze of rigging and rope up around its masts, and only one sail lies attached to it all. Yet, there is no ship as fast as this one. It is said the whole ship is enhanced through a connection to water magic, making any sails at all completely unnecessary. And the ship's quartermaster, Cobb Eulisses, is rumored to be a powerful mage of the storm.   From one end of the islands to the other in only a couple days, Captain Hawk utilizes this advantage to minimize the time spent finding and rescuing the broken and the hurting. But unlike other lords, he doesn't plan to go down with his ship. Because, if that happened, he'd no longer be able to protect his people.

The Curuni Nenar showed me contempt. But Captain Hawk showed me compassion when he reached out his hand to me. That was the moment I finally appreciated his god over my own.

The 7th Kireesin

Kireesins are the elemental temples of the Curuni Nenar. Holy grounds that the tribe are sworn to protect, sacred places each member dreams of living in. But for exiles, it is forbidden. And the community at Mutiny Port, who still care for the tribe, wished to create a landmark for themselves that reminded them of the Kireesins. They wished to make their own Kireesin.   Far above the main grounds of Mutiny Port, along a small mountainside, a large altar was carved out, with six passageways branching out into ceremonial rooms. An elemental sigil was carved above each passageway for earth, fire, air, water, lightning, and light.   Now it is a common gathering place for almost every person in Mutiny Port, including those who were never part of the tribe either. It is a temple where the Kireesins can be remembered, and it is a place everyone believes the elements conjoin together to make a truly unique place.   This temple is named Priwaiza, and it is nicknamed the Seventh Kireesin.

Look at this beautiful place we have created for ourselves. We can feel the thrum of the elements swelling inside of it!

The Collective Code

In the Silver Piece Collective, every pirate and sailor abides by the ten laws known as the Collective Code:
  • The creed must always be respected
  • The Creed of the Coin must also be respected
  • Every seafarer has the right to Parlay
  • In a crew, each shipmate is designated an equal share of all treasure
  • There can only ever be four pirate lords
  • Women can never be the captain, quartermaster, or first mate of a ship
  • A surrendered enemy cannot be killed
  • The authority of a buccaneer must be followed
  • If a pirate lord dies before a will is given, all other lords vote on who is to replace the late pirate lord
  • Whoever is chosen by will or vote to become the next pirate lord must accept
  • His intents are respectable. But there's a better status quo he should be thinkin' of.
