Jezebel "Shadow" Edge

People call me many things. A thief. A charlatan. A crazed mage. A pirate. Truth is, I don't like what I do. But the world makes me feel like I have to.

Driven to the Edge

Among the tales and stories of ancient Kustaanos, none interest a listener more than those of the Kireesin Runes. Back in the times of the dwarves, it is said there existed a magnificent altar dedicated to each element of the world; eight in total. But in the time of godly warfare, these altars were separated, forced into separate corners of the world where they would be left to be nothing more than a secret.   But secrets are always discerned at some point. At least, so was the case for the Lightning Kireesin, rediscovered and populated by a meditative monastic order called the Colorless Birds. Here, the teachings of peace mixed oddly with the power over lightning.   Jezebel Edge grew up in this monastery no different. In fact, he enjoyed nothing more than the opportunity to sit isolated on his fishing ship, not listening to the break of the island waves, or the whistle of the salt-filled wind, but the silence. Waking up to calm tranquility everyday was a feeling he hoped would never leave.   But it would.   Suddenly, outlanders from offshore arrived one day, dressed in all manners of armor and blue and calling themselves Tenelean and speaking a language that only arcane translators could work around. They were lead by a man named Kaeso Comminious, their admiral, and a woman named Sonia Orissa. Upon his declaration of the island's ownership falling to them, many Colorless Birds rose up in opposition, including Jezebel.   He wouldn't allow strangers from the horizon to simply arrive and take what was theirs. However, all that would change the day blood was spilt. Jezebel saw it all. The monastery's objections had grown too annoying for the Teneleans. Many monks began to be detained, and others were even killed.   Now, there was no silence in Jezebel's ears, only heart break and terror.   The island was overwhelmed, and he, his family, and some friends barely escaped the island on his fishing vessel. They sat exiled to the sea. Everyone wallowed in the despair of their predicament, but Jezebel only thought of the two faces that angered him greatly. Kaeso and Sonia. They had stolen his home. Stripped the monastery of its significance.   Even then, escape to the pirate safe haven of Scally Bay was the only thing Jezebel and his family could think of. On their way, they saw a vessel coming towards them, flying the colors of the haven. At first, they were joyous. But then, when great balls of lead began peppering the water around them, Jezebel's ship was forced to turn and make its escape. Even the safe haven was no haven for the likes of Jezebel's people.   His people had done nothing to the world, yet it came and took everything away like they were criminals. It attacked them like they were renegades. It wanted him to be the villain? Fine, he would be the villain. Convincing the others, they felt the same way too. The surviving remnants of the Colorless Birds turned to piracy, renaming themselves the Colorless Beasts.   For years, Jezebel helmed the crew as its captain. They became noteworthy criminals of the Teneleans, solidified after hijacking a white-mast galleon. Refurbishing it, Jezebel deemed it the White Banshee.   But this wasn't where his retaliation hoped to end.   War had most recently sprung between the Teneleans and the distant kingdom of Ravenna. Their naval battles brought them close to Jezebel's waters, and when he heard Kaeso and Sonia were leading the fleets, he saw a perfect chance to strike back.   For days, he crept in close to the admiral's flag ship, the Thriamvos, poking it with small arms fire. Each time, the White Banshee escaped demise just nearly. After each skirmish, Jezebel could feel their ship becoming an even bigger target to that vessel. And when he riled them up enough, he sailed out and met with the Ravennian Navarch, Xavier Lido aboard his ship, the Scarlet I.   Through genuine conviction, he was granted permission to sail with the fleet in an upcoming naval fight against the Teneleans. When the fighting did come, he was quick to make himself known to the Thriamvos, who quickly veered toward them in aggression. Jezebel saw them take the bait, and he immediately retreated when the flag ship was encircled by the Ravennian vessels.   He watched from afar by spyglass as the dreadnought was bombarded. He smiled when he saw that admiral fall, but the woman stayed standing. In fact, by her hands alone, she rallied the ship to break through the encirclement. Through her pugnacity, they made a close escape.   Jezebel experienced success and failure at this battle. Half of his quarry had faced vengeance, but the other half still remained, now watching him from afar as the White Banshee departed.   Weeks later, when Jezebel heard the warrants for the capture of the White Banshee, he could only think of the stain he had left on that beautiful and treacherous woman, now the new high-admiral. With his surviving monks, Jezebel Edge, nicknamed Captain Shadow continues to sail the seas in an effort to make Sonia Orissa pay.   Only when she drew her last breath, and when the reign of piracy in these waters ended, would Jezebel stop. Perhaps then, he could return to his previous path, his path of silence and peace.

My plan? It's simple. Bring that crooked woman to her knees and reclaim my home. Then, I'll set my eyes on the whole Silver Piece Collective and make them change too.

Shock Point

The runic magic of the Lightning Kireesin can be used in many ways for many things if one knows how to utilize it. Jezebel's signature weapon, a rapier imbued with the power over lightning was meticulously crafted by himself alone because of his expertise. In a show of mockery to the Iron Admiral, he nicknamed his weapon Shock Point.   Lightning runes coat the entire length of the rapier to the point, granting it an innate ability to conduct electricity on contact. It's entire blade is comprised of silvered steel with a leathered guard at the hilt, handle, and pommel.   To many traveling sailors, distant storm clouds are a sign of ill omen. But presently, when in these waters, the Coral Depths, it's a sign the Captain Shadow and his powerful weapon is not far off.

Imperial Feud

In the Coral Depths, Jezebel and Sonia play a constantly shifting game of cat and mouse. Jezebel seeks to sink the flagship and the high-admiral with it, and retake the island the Teneleans turned into a port city called Goldstone. Sonia Orissa urges to avenge her late admiral's death caused by Jezebel Edge.   Jezebel employs countless hit and run tactics against small Tenelean convoys in an effort to draw out the Thriamvos and Sonia Orissa. On many occasions, Jezebel has seen the same tactic used to draw him out by the Iron Admiral as well.   Because of his methods, "Shadow" was a name coined for him by sailors in the Tenelean navy. The storm was always an opposing ship's most common enemy. All the while, Jezebel and the White Banshee would barely be noticeable on the horizon, like a distant shadow.

The Only Creed

Like many of the Silver Piece Collective, Jezebel and his crew share a devout belief in Eadro, the Seaworthy, keeping many of the traditional devotions associated with him, such as the Creed of the Coin.   But, in regards to the collective body of the SPC, it is the only regulation Jezebel chooses to follow. After the attack at Scally Bay, Jezebel saw the people as reckless and heinous. He refuses to follow their laws, and will fight to force a change if it encroaches on him like the Teneleans encroached on his home.   As a result, this has sparked an alliance on several occasions with a separate pirate faction called the Sirens. He sees their captain, Nadeen Omen as a good ally who seeks to impart the same kind of change on the SPC as he does.
