Episode 28 - The Crab-a-pult

The session begins with Klork walking through the afterlife, seething with anger as both his former deity's walk away from him. He walks blindly through the darkness as the rain wicks off his face. As he walks down this endless path he begins to feel his magical capabilities drain from his extremeties, ready to give into his eternal resting place, when he hears the voices of his friends call to him out of the endless nothingness. Their voices become stronger and mix together into a single, foreign voice. Klork opens his eyes and finds himself face to face with father Roderic Virethorn who advises his friends have gone on to the library to finish the work they were commissioned to do. The father advises that Klork return to The Roopty Scoop and wait for their return. Prior to leaving, Klork has a sit down conversation with the father over some tasty confections. The father advises that Klork is not lost and that his time on this earth has purpose. Though Klork feels abandoned by his gods, Pelor is always loving, always redeeming. Klork leaves Kopaldi's in an angry huff and heads out to find his compatriots.   Davwyn and Moxt play werebear tag back in the library, after their encounter with the Saernclaws, and Davwyn is able to successfully keep the rabid bear at bay. While avoiding the beast, Davwyn notes one of the living shadows appears in the room. He utilizes his portable hole and captures one of the strange but veracious creatures, keeping it closed and bound inside one of the library books. Moxt and Davwyn return to sleep at the roopty scoop but they begin to fear that they may release an untold horror on the city. Needing guidance, the two return to the library and speak with Mr. Dewey concerning the shadows. Dewey explains that the shadow's natural habitat is the The Watchers Arcadia and that if released from their environment could result in catastrophic consequences. The two then return to the Watchers Arcadia and release the hole, throwing it onto the ceiling after they realize the shadow could not be motivated to leave the dark hole.   Klork, Davwyn, and Moxt meet up outside the bar once again, hoping to make good on their promise to the father to determine what is going on at the church of Pelor. Moxt receives a message from Aaron Frost that he needs an update concerning their investigation at the library while also receiving information that there is some cult activity at the grave yard "Heroes Rest" outside the church grounds. The group decides to first gather intel at the gravesite before returning to Mr. Frost. While doing so, the party locates a large mausoleum dedicated to the fallen priests of Pelor which has a magically locked door. After several attempts by Davwyn to fool the young groundsmen into believing his son lost his crab at the tomb, Klork falls onto the boy, crushing all his ribs and steals his keys. The three slyly open the magical door to the mausoleum and discover a single tomb in the middle of the room dedicated to "Derek The First." The party learns that there appears to be The Order of Derek which functions as warrior priests, dedicated to expunging all evil. The three also note scratch marks imbedded in the ground behind the tomb. After pushing the tomb open the group discovers an underground stair leading into a musty darkness.     The party fights several unique undead creatures and nearly lose Davwyn as he is engrosed in an acid cloud and stapled to a wall. Defeating their opponents, Klork scares the last skeleton warrior into the next room when they hear a coars voice cry out, "Coward!" followed by a sound of a blade severing the creature's head. Instead of pushing their luck, the party decides to tactically retreat and regroup with the remainder of their party.   What lies in the catacombs ahead?  What do these undead creatures have to do with the temple of Pelor? How will Mr. Frost handle the news of Arnon's Bane losing the proof concerning the name Mycorjet?
