When he was a child, Darrett traveled from town to town across Solamnia with his parents. That is until the day he woke up one morning in Vogler with his parents nowhere to be found, leaving him alone in the world at only twelve years old. He never saw them again. When Mayor Raven learned his story, she allowed Darrett to occupy one of her estate’s guest rooms. As ten years his senior, the two would over time form a familial sister-brother bond with one another.
When not making use of the estate’s library, Darrett was always somewhere in the village helping someone with some task. This noble behavior caught the eye of the resident Knight of Solamnia, Becklin Uth Viharin, and she eventually offered to train him as a Knight of Solamnia. He accepted the honor without a second thought.
Darrett’s willingness to help the village no matter the task has endeared him Vogler’s citizens, despite his affiliation to the Knights of Solamnia.
Meeting the Adventurers
Darrett, always willing to help, forgot about his scheduled rendezvous with the party when a young boy from Vogler went missing in the wilderness to the north the morning of the party's arrival. Darrett joined the search party, and after several hours waiting for him at The Fishbowl, the party set out to find him, eventually joining the search for Ross, and finding both of them in the northern wildnerness.
The pleasantries were cut short as two red dragonnels attacked the group, but they were able to successfully fend off the creatures and return Ross safely to his parents.

Relationships
Darrett Highwater is an aspiring knight who serves Becklin Uth Viharin. His parents abandoned him in town over a decade ago, after which Darrett spent years as a ward of the community before coming under Becklin's wing.
