Ascension

In 791 AR, several regional governors of Eastern Morosia convened to salvage what they could of a clearly collapsing Morosia. They decided upon reinstalling Valon Vekon 'the Fifth', who then resided in the eastern city of Alexia. Valon was notably not present at these meetings, but graciously accepted the responsibility when news reached him.   Valon decided to remain in Alexia as his seat of power. Within a few years, the surrounding Morosian provinces had pledged their allegiances to Valon as rightful soveriegn of the Morosian Empire. With Eastern Morosia secure by 800 AR, Valon reach out to the Island of Moros - the ancestral seat of Morosian power - only to find war had consumed the region. With the Daahken Dresnids still a threat to the south, Valon limited further contact with the Island of Moros to emissaries.

Wars of Conquest

Defeating the Dresnids

During the reigns of Valon and his son Vectis, Alexia steadily expanded and managed to regain lost territory against the Dresnid invaders from the previous century. Alexia fought numerous wars against the Badiran and Aklahan Khanates - successor states to the Daahken Khaganate. These wars met with mixed success, but the Empire reconquered former Morosian and Aetian cities, including Aomekion and Pathamai. In 865 AR, Alexia allied with the Srian Kingdom of Vatheria to reclaim lands from the Badiran Khanate. By 870 AR, Alexia had destroyed the Khanate and a number of splinter rebellions which spawned from its demise.

The Island of Morosia Question

Morosia remained a contentious part of Alexian foreign policy. When Axel Vekon ascended the throne in 855 AR, he returned the Empire's focus on the island subcontinent of Moros, which had finally settled on peace in 845 AR. He launched a sizeable fleet, comprised of Morosian and Maetian volunteers numbering 15,000 in an invasion of the island in order to bring it under the Alexian fold. The invasion was forestalled and eventually failed after the new Kingdoms of Morosia united to oppose the Alexian expedition. Subsequent rulers sent only envoys to Morosia to establish a number of treaties over the next century, most of which failed.

East of Eastern Morosia

Foriegn relations with the Poscaean Empire of Larisiphon remained unchanged following Valon V's ascension. Alexia and Larisiphon clashed numerous times in the decades that followed. The southern regions swapped hands many times, but little else changed in all of these wars. They were ultimately undecisive wars, a waste of human life and resources for both powers.
