Physical Darkness

The physical embodiment of darkness, and one of the fundamental elements of the universe. Most commonly associated with gods such as Santhus, it is one of the elements present during the creation of everything, and is manipulatable by gods and some demi-deities. Heavily believed to simply be a rare resource, its mystical origins are considered a myth among the general populace, though its destructive nature is widely feared.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Pitch black fluid, gas and solid. Almost like a hole in reality itself, no light that is exposed to it is reflected, making it a pure black substance.

Physical & Chemical Properties

When measured, Physical Darkness is always at absolute 0, despite the environment it is placed in. However, intense burning has been reported upon contact to nearly all creatures that touch, as well as its damaging and eventual completely destructive affects to any organic matter it touches through varying amounts exposure. Corrosive to almost all non organic materials except for solid versions of itself. Hard light shielding made by Physical Light  is resistant to the corrosion but is not impervious.

Geology & Geography

Found deep inside Kostea's crust, as well all over Santhus's dimension.

Origin & Source

PD has an unknown origin, but its existence has been known since Humans first gained sentience, and it is believe to have existed since the start of the universe. It's found in extreme amounts inside of Santhus's dimension, but even Santhus himself does not know if it originated here. Kostea: The Creation Story makes references to it, claiming that it has existed since before Kostea itself, and even holding it responsible for the God's creation, and subsequently, Kostea's creation. Of course, many people simply shrug this off as a myth of old, and not holding any true substantial weight.

Life & Expiration

Will never dissipate on its own,but can be broken down and destroyed if exposed to high enough levels of Physical Light .

History & Usage

History

A fundamental element of the universe, it has existed since the creation of everything, and may have even had a role in the creation of everything. Due to its inability to be controlled by ordinary people, its never had much of a use, but scientists have tried studying it over the years to find a use for it.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Highly feared by most, Physical Darkness is most commonly associated with Darklings, due to their similar appearances and destructive habit.

Refinement

Can be manipulated by gods and demi-deities, and solid PD can be crafted into specific shapes using hard light tools, though this manipulation is time consuming, expensive, and not very useful due to its adverse affects upon most who come in contact with the substance.

Hazards

Refining it using hard light tools is dangerous due to the possibly of exposure to organics, which would be heavily injured or entirely destroyed. Complex organics, such as Humans, can have total destruction induced rapidly, while less complex organics can take days to be completely eradicated.

Environmental Impact

Large amounts could destroy an ecosystem due to it destroying most basic organic matter it comes across in a matter of days. This destruction can be halted or reversed by exposure to Physical light. If complete destruction is accomplished however, reversing the process is considered impossible.

Distribution

Storage

Can only be stored inside itself indefinitely, or inside of hard light containers for extended, albeit still limited amounts of time due its corrosive nature. While conventional means can be used for short term containment, such as steel drums, these too will degrade rapidly.
