Tiffany's Bow

Geography

The Tiffany's Bow is a long winding river that runs from a source in the Dragonspine Mountains out to the Drakescale Ocean- it forms the central watershed in all of Celadine and much of the surrounding area. The river crosses multiple biomes and climates, stretching from the arid mountains down across rolling dry hills into the warmer temperate or subtropical broadleaf forests of the lowlands of Celadine. More than just a single course, Tiffany's Bow incorporates many smaller rivers in Celadine and the Moonmouth Forest, forming a large watershed before fanning out into a delta around the social capital of Thuja.

Fauna & Flora

In the more arid areas at the foothills of the Dragonspine Mountains, the humidity and hydration provided by the Tiffany's Bow watershed allows for thriving copses of dogwood trees in otherwise more coniferous or barren forests. This in turn supports many local ecosystems of animals, providing water and food for herbivores like wild horses, sheep, and goats, as well as many giant vermin such as giant stag beetles. These are often the main prey of mountainous predators like dragons, manticores, and rocs, which can often be spotted by erstwhile monster hunters along the banks of the upper Tiffany's Bow.
Further towards the sea, the river supports lakes and wetlands around its many oxbow lakes. These swampy lowlands are known for many quite dangerous organisms, such as the terrifying catoblepas as well as other famous magical megafauna such as hippogriffs and questing beasts. These lower areas are home to more traditional temperate wetland plantlife, such as silver maples and willows. Settlements are more common in these areas, with many small fishing or logging communities sitting alongside the river and using the river for commerce and trade.
The river itself is also a very diverse freshwater community. While home to the typical fish found at varying altitudes and habitats, the watershed is also very much so magically imbued, and home to many magical or monstrous species as well. Fey most of all are very common, most notably those such as kelpies, nereids, nymphs, and nixies. In addition, the main large fauna found in these freshwater waterways- both the river itself and its many oxbow lakes- are giant insects and other 'dire' animals.
