Celadine

Structure

Celadine is run by a monarch from its capital of Thuja. The current monarch, Queen Wanda I, spends most of her time in Thuja, following a typical monarch lifestyle. The majority of the political organization in Celadine is done on a local countywide level- the counties of Celadine are generally divided based on exports and on geographical locations, such as Moonsmouth County, spanning the largest stretch of contiguous forest in Celadine, or the more mountainous mining county of Opallow.

Assets

Due to its dense forested areas in much of the nation, logging and hunting is very often a more lucrative career than farming would be, and most farming communities, outside of the capital region, are small. Within a smaller scope, fishing on the many rivers that run through Celadine is often a lucrative local business. Celadine's lumber exports are known throughout many surrounding nations as high quality, especially because of the many magically imbued forests where trees grow fast enough to replenish themselves after logging.
Celadine isn't a particularly powerful military nation, but they do have quite powerful magical resources- in particular, a prestigious wizard's college and many individual druid circles that are often affiliated with various Celadese Counties. With their wide expanses of forests and lumber-work, the Celadese do have a relatively prestigious navy- big enough to defend their shores in case of invasion for such resources of lumber.

History

Although many nations with large human populations claim this legacy, Celadine is the most likely candidate to have been the first landing point of humanity in Aborea. Because of this, the capital city of Thuja is often considered the original homeland of humanity. Celadine has had quite a lot of disagreement with the dwarven holds to the south, but full-fledged war has never swept Celadine.

Demography and Population

The majority races of Celadine are Humans, Half-Elves, and Halflings. Due to the large populations of Humans and half Humans, planetouched races like Tieflings or Oreads are relatively common, as well. Dwarves and orcs are neither rare nor commonplace in towns across Celadine, mostly limited to smaller frontier towns or towns towards the southern border with the Ranga Holds . Elves are quite rare in Celadine, given its distance both geographically and politically from any Elven nations. The Moonsmouth Forest is home to a large settlement of Strix and Gathlain, living in densely wooded areas in close proximity to the Elder, and due to the curiosity of these races their citizens often move to other settlements across Celadine.

Territories

Celadine's northern border with Tannica is a contentious one- although no military conflict has broken out, few people live near the theocracy's border due to the looming threat. Said territory is mostly open grassland or mixed deciduous forest, as compared to the much denser deciduous forests stretching south in Celadine. To the west, Celadine borders with the quite dangerous Overcast Barrowlands, officially reaching the Mournful River, while to the south the borders reach the foothills of the Dragonspine Mountains, where they border with the Ranga Holds.
Pre-human arrival in northern Aborea, the area was under control of loosely organized vassal states of the great Goblinoid empires, but was quite underpopulated, save for the few trade networks that stretched across the land, loosely organized clans of ratfolk, and the occasional group of travelers or settles from south of the Dragonspine Mountains. Thus, human assimilation and proliferation was quite rapid- new populations were welcomed by the unincorporated groups in the area, and small human city states and liege-lands sprung up rapidly. However, the national lands that are now separated into Celadine, Tannica, and Munavri didn't become truly "human lands" until the Shadow Cataclyms' wanton destruction of the area, where human organizations were some of the first people to immediately begin rebuilding in the wake of the devastation.

Foreign Relations

Celadine tries to maintain a stance of peace in foreign conflict- they attempt to stay neutral in fighting between various holds in the Dragonspine Mountains to the south as well as the constant contentious relations that happen with Tannica to the north. However, this stance of peace often covers up a much wider grasp of foreign relations. Celadine, although a nation focused on law and duty, often organizes acts of espionage to their rivals or neighbors- especially in Tannica to the north, as the conflicts that might break out on the border could very often lead to endangerment of Celadese citizens. Operation of actual military force, however, are usually occupied on the western border, defending frontier lands from incursions originating in the Barrowlands.

Trade & Transport

As a heavily forested nation, one of Celadine's principal exports is that of lumber. They also mine in the foothills to the south, and the Dragon's Road stretches from the western edge of the border with the Ranga Holds all the way to Thuja, as an incredibly important land trade route. In addition, the river of Tiffany's Bow goes south from Thuja towards the mountains and is important for shipping of things like lumber that can be floated downstream.

Currency
Typical standards of platinum, gold, silver, and copper plated coins are traded. Platinum coins have the faces of various monarchs, gold coins have imprints of the Simorgh, an important national emblem, and silver and copper coins are mostly unaccented.
Legislative Body
Although the monarch has power to propose legislation, Celadine's government operates across the united counties. The monarch's appointed magistrates consolidate national edicts offered by the crown, but also must deal with the various local laws and legislation that organize on a county level- each county controls its own local taxation, export, and trade to and from the crown. However, likely the most powerful legislator, regardless of absolute monarchic power, is the magistrate housed in Thuja- not only do they supervise the largest city and main trade port in Celadine, they also have legislative control of the whole of Kingsfaire County.
