Volothamp Geddarm -- "Volo" for short, is one of the most legendary traveler and storyteller, and was most famous for his book Volo's Guide to Monsters published by Tym Waterdeep Limited.

Personal history

At some point before Year 1 of the Age of Heroes, Volo was trapped by an imprisonment spell and was released only after several centuries had passed. Upon his return, he was informed by the Legendary Mage Elminster about the events of the Battle of Alvendar and Imrys' fall.
After his return, Volo was hired by unknown agents to explore the mysterious valley of Barovia, for a commission of 99 Gold Dragons. Volo barely escaped the demiplane by utilizing a charm given to him by Elminster.
Volo spent many years traveling the world and working on what would become his most successful book, Volo's Guide to Monsters which would serve as a tool to help numerous adventurers in their travels. Most recently, Volo has found himself back in the City of Splendors, Waterdeep, where he has worked with a small adventuring party, the Grubs, and assisted them in gaining ownership of Trollskull Alley, one of the most prominent buildings in Waterdeep.
