Verana, the Goddess of the Sælfey Character in Kornax | World Anvil

Verana, the Goddess of the Sælfey

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Verana manifests in an aura of otherworldly, slightly threatening grace. Her slender figure is covered in her purple skin, which strangely also forms her raiment, as needed. Golden patterns, now like veins, now like vines, dance across her skin. Her platinum hair is swept back behind her long, pointed ears, tumbling to the junction where her iridescent dragonfly wings spring from her back.

Apparel & Accessories

Verana wears no clothing, but neither is she naked, precisely. Rather, her skin manifests into raiment to preserve her modesty as needed.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Verana is a creation of Asgorn, made to fashion and rule over the fey of the Realm of Vigor.

Sexuality

Verana is an intensely sexual being. Though she only has love for Tadi, her opposite from the Realm of Shadow, she has many partners of convenience, some for only a moment, others for centuries. Except for the rare trysts with Tadi, none of these unions have a deeper emotional meaning for her. They simply bring her pleasure.

Intellectual Characteristics

Verana loves beauty and fanciful things. Her creations are wonderful and terrible. The Realm of Vigor, over which she presides, has come to reflect this aspect of her personality.

She is mercurial and flighty, with a mischevious streak. Her tricks and jokes are never intentionally cruel, but her inability to emotionally connect with mortals sometimes allows her to cause suffering where none is intended. When she does so, it is of no matter to her.

Morality & Philosophy

Verana has no morality. She hedonism personified, in many ways. She is not averse to doing good, but she is equally capable of evil. Simply put, she does what feels good to her in the moment.

Taboos

She will never betray or harm Tadi, for of all the beings of the Spheres, it is he alone whom she truly loves.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Verana is emotionally and spiritually bound to her opposite - Tadi, the God of the Unsælfey. It is he alone whom she loves, and on rare occasions, she invites him to the Material Planes, where they have a tryst, never more than three mortal days in duration. The last such tryst was three centuries before the Fall of Dragons.
