The Shard of Might

The Shard of Might is a unique item of great power. It was once part of an even more powerful artifact, and it is likely that if it were ever rejoined to the other Shards, it could reform that artifact - The Dragontablet of Da.

The Shard had been lost for some time, but it was recovered by agents of Geath Hyr Ci̋d̬aa, the Fifth Pasop of Sogcigdi. It lay in her vault since the year 909 LE. It was stolen very recently by the adventuring troupe known as The Book Club.

Manufacturing process

Created from nothing by Da the Glorious.

History

The Shard of Might came into being when The Dragontablet of Da broke into four pieces on the death of its creator, Da the Glorious. It remained in the ruins of her citadel until discovered by an adventurer, lost to history, in the tenth century of the Latter Era. The adventurer died at the hands of a green dragon named Doo R̈amësëaook (Doo, the King Collector). For two-and-a-half centuries, the Shard remained in Doo's hoard. When the wyrm was slain at the hands of Aajuu Chiièya in 1243 LE, the Shard became a crown jewel of Aj̀ie. Geath Hyr Ci̋daa, the Fifth Pasop of Sogcigdi learned of its location in early 1419 LE. She dispatched a pair of skilled agents to retrieve it, and in 1421 LE, they returned to D̬aba with the Shard in their possession. It has remained there, hidden within the Deep Vault of the Pasop, until very recently when it was stolen by the adventuring troupe known as The Book Club.

Shard of Might

Other

Legendary The Shard must be attuned before use. If combined with the other tree Shards, the four become a new Artifact.

The Shard of Might is one of four broken shards of the Dragontablet of Da. It is embued with a portion of her essence. Individually, it is a wonder, but combined with the rest of her Dragontablet, it becomes enormously powerful, as it carries a fragment of the power of an Ethereal Dragon.   The Shard of Honor alone has the following properties, which are only available if it is attuned:   The Shard has 12 charges that recharge at 1d12 charges daily at dawn. If the last charge is consumed, the shard becomes mundane for 1d20 days and then begins recharging as normal. The attuned character has expertise in Athletics until unattuned. This benefit does not consume charges. The attuned character may, as an action, touch a willing creature and expend four charges to cast [spell]Enhance Ability[/spell] but can only affect the target's Strength attribute. Whenever the attuned character takes damage, they may use their reaction (if available) to expend one or more charges, reducing the damage by 10 hp per charge. The attuned character can focus for 10 minutes, expending one or more charges to increase their Strength attribute by 1 per charge to a maximum score of 30. This effect lasts for one hour, at the end of which, the character's strength will drop below their normal by an amount equal to the bonus they had achieved. Their strength recovers at 1 point per hour of complete rest. If the character does more than eat, drink, and relieve bodily functions during any given hour, they do not regain strength during that hour, though any strength already regained is not lost.

In appearance, the Shard of Might, like the other three shards, seems to be a broken piece of polished granite with a single rune etched into its face. The rune on this particular shard is the celestial rune that represents the concept of honor. This shard is, in very general terms, about 7 inches wide by 12 inches long and about 1 inch thick, weighing around 8 pounds.
