The Dragontablet of Da
Manufacturing process
Created from nothing by the will of Da the Glorious, alone.
History
Long ago, the Draconic Pantheon and the Ethereal Dragons ruled the Spheres. On Kornax, some of the Ethereal Dragons, along with their far weaker cousins, the Material Dragons, ruled locally as viceroys of a sort. One of these viceroys was Da the Glorious, an Ethereal Greatwyrm. She ruled the region of the Sokinan Mountain System, a realm then called Rinyaa, as well as the Underdark beneath it, which was called then Erinyaa.
Da was the defender of most of Kornax, not just Rinyaa and Erinyaa, from the depredations of an Elder God of the Plane of Earth named Am. He became trapped on Kornax, and his entrapment enraged him. He rampaged through the Underdark of Kornax, especially Erinyaa. Da strove several times against the great Power, defending the peoples of Tunsaccia from Am's rage and madness. Eventually, the two met in single combat. The fight raged on the surface and in the deep, but in the end, the Ethereal Dragon struck a blow so severely that he fled in to the deepest recesses of the Underdark. Da, however, was not a Power and lacked the ability to banish or slay the Elder God. So she crafted a dragontablet, in the manner of her people, embuing it with her very Essence, making it into one of the three known Greater Dragontablets. She chose a champion, an Ithygši̋c warrior leader named Ciltyc Thidfud. She tested her champion with a series of ever more challenging tasks. When she deemed Ciltyc worthy, she send the champion deep beneath the surface to where Am (known to the Ithygši̋c as the "Ned̬abeya," or "Maw of the Deep") lay sleeping, recovering from his battle with Da. Ciltyc used the Dragontablet of Da to seal Da's foe into the cavern in which he slept, securing a peace.
In time, Da mated with a golden-scaled Ethereal Dragon named Chamsud. After the Fall of Dragons, during the Dragonwars, Chamsud fought the Storm Giant Champion Flech in single combat. Chamsud was slain, and Da's heart was broken. She shut herself within her citadel, which became a place of darkness and despair, until she finally perished from grief. Upon her death in 661 LE, the Dragontablet of Da shattered into four shards - The Shard of Honor, The Shard of Spirit, The Shard of Might, and the Shard of Humility.
Significance
This was one of only three known Greater Dragontablets, that is, a dragontablet embued with the very essence of an Ethereal Dragon.
The four Shards can be recombined by convincing the remaining Energy that was once Da, to fuse them. To do so, one needs to communicate with Da's energy and give a compelling reason why the Dragontablet needs to be reconstituted.
Once reconstituted, a creature may attempt to attune to the Dragontablet. This does not work in the same manner as with other magic items. To attune to the Dragontablet, a creature must meditate on the tablet and enter a trance-like state. Doing so requires a DC 19 Wisdom ability check. Once in the state, roll a 4d12 to determine the number of hours of meditation are required. At the end of the meditation, the creature makes a DC 22 Wisdom ability check. If they succeed, they have attuned to it. If they fail, they may roll another 4d12 to determine how many more hours they must meditate before making another attempt. Normal rules regarding food consumption and sleep apply during this period, so exhaustion will accrue.
