The Shard of Honor is a unique item of great power. It was once part of an even more powerful artifact, and it is likely that if it were ever rejoined to the other Shards, it could reform that artifact - The Dragontablet of Da.

The Shard had been lost for some time, but it was rediscovered by The Dolorous Rapture, devotees of Tilgūn, the Cruel Empress. Since then, it has fallen into the hands of Hip Pocrates, though Geath Hyr Ci̋d̬aa, the Pasop of Sogcigdi, is known to be seeking it.

History

The Shard of Honor came into being when the Greater Dragontablet known as The Dragontablet of Da broke into four shards upon her death. Lay in her citadel for centuries, until it was found by the vile cult devoted to the goddess Tilgūn. They never had the opportunity to bring its power to bear and it was taken as spoils in 1429 LE, upon the destruction of their shrine in the ruins of Da's citadel by the adventuring troupe known as The Book Club. It is currently attuned to the celerman monk devoted to Glovia named Hip Pocrates.

Significance

The Shard of Honor, powerful as it is on its own, is more significant in that it is one of four shards that make up the Dragontablet of Da. If reconstituted, they would become an artifact of incredible power.

The Shard of Honor

Other

Legendary The Shard must be attuned before use. If combined with the other tree Shards, the four become a new Artifact. Requires Attunement

The Shard of Honor is one of four broken shards of the Dragontablet of Da. It is embued with a portion of her essence. Individually, it is a wonder, but combined with the rest of her Dragontablet, it becomes enormously powerful, as it carries a fragment of the power of an Ethereal Dragon.

Passive Effects

The attuned creature is immune to the frightened condition until the tablet is unattuned or the creature dies. This benefit does not consume charges.

Charges

The Shard of Honor can have up to a maximum of 12 charges. Charges regenerate at a rate of 1d12 per day, upt to the maximum. If the last charge is consumed, the Shard cannot regain charges for 1d20 days, at which time it begins regenerating charges as normal.

Powers Requiring Expenditure of Charges

  • The attuned creature can remove exhaustion from one creature they touch. Doing so carries a cost in charges equal to the number of levels of exhaustion being relieved times 3.
  • The attuned creature can cast Cure Wounds at any level for the cost of 1 charge per spell level.
  • For the cost of 3 charges, the attuned character can make persuasion checks for one minute with a bonus equal to their proficiency ponus. This bonus is in addition to any proficiency or expertise bonus the character would otherwise have.

In appearance, the Shard of Honor, like the other three shards, seems to be a broken piece of polished granite with a single rune etched into its face. The rune on this particular shard is the celestial rune that represents the concept of honor. This shard is, in very general terms, about 7 inches wide by 12 inches long and about 1 inch thick, weighing around 8 pounds. The top and left-hand edges are straight, while the bottom and right-hand edges are broken and jagged.
