Scepter of Kir Dhi

The Scepter of Kir Dhi is a slender, tapering rod of translucent green stoneglass, laced with mithril filigree that traces the leyline design of Khit itself. The head of the scepter is capped with a floating, faceted orb of crystalized earthen aether, which glows softly in the presence of magical alignment or misalignment.   Despite its apparent fragility, the Scepter is nearly unbreakable and hums faintly when in the presence of geomantic or architectural imbalance. In the right hands, it functions both as a powerful tool and a symbol of the legitimacy of the Adhīh̹’s authority.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

  • Ley Sense (At Will): The bearer can detect leyline flows and nodes within 5 miles and their strength, direction, and type.
  • Architect’s Insight (1/day): Grants the bearer advantage on Arcana and History checks related to magical or ancient structures. Can also be used to automatically sense weak points or harmonics in magical buildings.
  • Resonant Alignment (3 charges): The bearer can channel ley energy into a structure or ritual, providing +1 to spell save DCs and spell attack rolls for all allies within a designated structure for 1 hour.
  • Voice of the Founder (1/month): The bearer may commune with the spirit-echo of Kir Dhi for guidance. The answer comes in the form of a cryptic but accurate sentence or image.
  • Reverberation: If wielded in battle (typically ceremonial), it functions as a +2 quarterstaff that deals an additional 2d6 force damage to constructs or stone-based creatures.

History

The Scepter of Kir Dhi was made as a symbol and talisman of power by Kir Dhi, himself. It has been borne by every Adhīh of Shīddūnti as a symbol of their authority and merit.

Significance

More than a tool, the Scepter is a visible link between Shīddūnti’s founding ideals and its present governance. While the Adhīh̹ rarely wields it in combat, its presence is required in rituals of succession, civic expansion, and magical consecration. To steal or shatter the scepter would be a symbolic severing of Khit’s foundation—and is said to be the herald of the city's collapse.
