History
Nʊar was originally established as a base camp by Mudha Nînomnedhum to supply her army during its campaign against the dragons in the Dragonwars. The camp gradually evolved into a proper settlement, then into a town, and eventually became a major city. In 874 LE, the ruler Yûmkla Nû Mudhatuna changed the name to Nʊar, simply because he preferred the sound of it. Though he was deposed two years later, the populace seemed to favor the new name, and it has remained unchanged ever since.
Though rule of the city is and always has been reasonably stable, there have been changes in dynasty fourteen times in its history, most recently in 1422 LE, when Bvughu Thumury fought Yûmkla Theythy Thînytuna in single combat, cutting the former ruler's liver from his body and holding it in his hand before his defeated foe's face, earning his second name and leadership of Nʊar in the process.

Mudha's Pinnacle
In the center of town, at the edge of the market, a great natural stone pinnacle rises from the earth. In the earliest days of the settlement, Mudha would stand atop this promontory and make her speeches and proclaimations to her followers. The site has been memorialized in the centuries following her death, and the broken spear she used to slay Khoorudud is enshrined atop it, encased in a crystal casket.
