Minargs
Minargs are the most intelligent of the calabidae and also the most rare, by far.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Minargs are creatures that resemble orcs, but with smaller tusks that are barely larger than canine teeth and easily hidden behind their lips. They are quite rare, so that many non-calabids may mistake them for orcs. Their noses are slightly more humanoid and their are slightly lighter, though most are still very muscular.
Genetics and Reproduction
Minargs reproduce sexually. Unlike the orcs, minargs are incapable of interbreeding, even with other erectina.
Growth Rate & Stages
Minargs mature by about age twenty and live to about eighty-five years of age.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Minargs are omnivorous.
Behaviour
Not Mere Brutes
Minargs possess an extraordinary understanding of the world of magic. Some members of their society undergo years of training to become skilled wizards. While there may be variations in behavior among individuals, the general species-specific behavior of minargs is peaceful and social in nature. They tend to form larger societies that are non-aggressive unless provoked.
The Puzzle of Minarg Language
Minargs are a puzzle for scholars. Despite being distributed across Kornax, they share a single language without any dialectical differences. Sapientologists are unable to explain this phenomenon.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their skin is earth-toned, ranging from green to gray. Like humans, they have a thin covering of body hair. The hair on their heads is coarse and usually glossy black, often worn tied back and long, though there are examples of auburn, brown, or even blonde hair among minargs. Their eye color varies from golden brown (the most common) to almost black, but is always a shade of brown.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
All the calabids have evolved to live in caves and burrows. Part of this adaptation includes developing the ability to see in low light and even apparently lightless conditions.
