Tortles live in a variety of climes, adaptable as they are to whatever their situation demands in a manner similar to The Qut. Having made homes anywhere there is water in abundance and plentiful/verdant wildlife, there you can most likely find a tortle of some variety. Most notorious among the tortles are the Snapper Tortles located in Northern Kursh in the Devil Spires, the Island Tortles of Midonai, the GreatShell Tortoles of Mashhad, and the FrostShells of Valklema. Tortles are often viewed in wonder, as the sight of the huge walking shellbacks inspire a mixture of awe and fear. As these feelings are so prevalent, many tend to persecute these giants whether they are gentle or agressive.

A Hunted People

Due to the unique chemistry of their shell's composition, and the scarcity of their kind, many hunt Shellbacks for sport, seeing them as little more than big game. It is for this purpose that many shellback villages and cities are very well hidden, to avoid being hunted by those thrill seekers. Shellback shells are a strong sturdy material that many harvest for a variety of things. Their shells are often used for armor, new inventions, sturdy tools, or display pieces for collectors.
