The Blightlords of Ravessus

Born of the Plague

When The MagiBlight Plague was first unleashed upon Ravessus, the Five Lords of Ash stood to stem the tide as the first line of defense against the untamable arcane energy. The lords and their respective domains, Raetia, Galatania, Hispatus, Mauretium, and Darus all fell respectively over time. Their lords and legions were rumored to have been converted by the Magiblight plague into what are known today as the Blightlords of Ravessus. Along with the chimeric monstrosities that roam these lands, the Blightlords and their legions are feared as much as they are gossiped about, their existence remains uncertain though those who still try to trade in Ravessus have spread the tale of these mutated men and their terrifying lords. Many traders go missing, those these disappearances are chalked up more to the various chimeric mutants that wander the lands, and the bandits who plunder the roads, than the blighted beings who wander Ravessus's home provinces.   The last remaining lord, Cicero, the Craven King, still rules over the province of Osriana from the city of Jeresus, one of the few cities that remaining Ravessians have managed to reclaim from the grasp of the MagiBlight Plague. Cicero's relationship with the other BlightLords, however, remains unclear. At some points in Jeresus's tenuous history, Cicero appears to work with the BlightLords to deal with external threats to Ravessus. At other times, Cicero and the BlightLords appear to butt heads in both grand and small engagements over land, subjects, or materials. The fact remains that each year the BlightLords take some territory and lose some, a never-ending free-for-all between BlightLords, Ravessians, and the Blighted chimeric throng.

Between Blighted and Breathing

The BlightLords are beings, mutated by The MagiBlight Plague. Specifically, they were once lords, Dux(Dukes), of Ravessus's home provinces. The BlightLords were somehow able to resist the influence of the MagiBlight plague, whether by magic or willpower it is uncertain. They do, however, have the ability to exert some control over any of The Blighted that they come into close proximity with. The BlightLords, however, do not seem to be united in a common cause, as they fight just as frequently with each other as they do with the remaining Ravessians and foreign powers. The BlightLords remain, however, inscrutable. Many posit what their purpose and place are, suggesting that maybe they simply serve the MagiBlight Plague. Others believe that the BlightLords still serve a vaunted belief for a renewed Ravessian Empire. Some others state that the BlightLords are nothing more than powermongers and war makers, fighting for their own mindless gains of power and influence.   One thing remains certain though. These creatures are terrifying and powerful, commanding great strength and magics alongside a blighted and mutated physique. The BlightLords lie somewhere between alive and dead, mutated to a point where they can't be considered human anymore. Though they breathe, the blight has claimed them as their own.

Symbol of the Blightlords
"I've seen one of those blighters before, big fella' with tentacles and bone protrusions growing from him and shit. Ugly brute. I've never run so fast before though. The big boy took one look at me an' I was gone. I'll never forget those eyes though, red and piercing. Malevolent. And the Blighted it commanded . . . those unholy chimeric spawn put more than fear into a simple man's heart."
