Colourblade Language in Koria | World Anvil

Colourblade

Overview

The Colourblade technique is a language constructed by workers in the land of Ganguk and Vraitha with a specific colour system so that workers can communicate with each other without screaming at the top of their lungs.

Code

The original code was rather simple. You have a thread or many threads in different lengths and a basic colour code. Red stands for "need material" or "HELP!", Blue for something like "Need tools" or "Break", Black for "Stop" and White for "We are finished". Most of the time that code worked for the workers (ha!) and because all threads with aligning colours according to meaning were hung up on a piece of wood which looked like a curved sword, it was named "Colourblade".

After the catastrophic event of the Spiral the remaining Sword Maiden had no choice after the migration to rely on specific default threads with colourcodes and a variation of their own. Every Sword Maiden developed her own style and code after a while which she has to teach her contractor rudimentary and her fellow Sisters if they are on the same assignment.

Methods

The most used method is a general colourcode for the contractor and unfamiliar Sisters of Steel and then a personal colourcode. Some of the Maidens teach their personal code to their best friend, maybe even lover, some others their contractors. It gets a lot easier to communicate in a more coded and silent way when the reciever can read the damn code.

Some Maidens are even doing that with their clothes. Most of their armour or clothes represent certain messages, others openly brag with their archievements, contractors and their skills. To unknown observers it just looks like a very colourful, and sometimes irritating, compilation of clothes, threads, chains, bracelets or rings; to others it can speak entire novels.

This is fun. I love that some of them make their outfits tell people all about their achievements. XD

Yes, how else shall the enemy know with who they are dealing with?^^ it is not the fault of the Maiden that those uncultured ██████ can't read properly. :P
