The First Stone

Dont get me wrong, for sentimentality it is something that has almost no equal, but when it comes down to it, its a rock, a couple of pebbles, and a small pile of dust.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of the Bronze Ravens.
The First Stone is object where dwarf religious pilgrimages are concerned. It is rumored to be the first thing ever to come out of a dwarven mine. Many a Dwarfhome has their own lesser version that they hold in esteem, but that they will always call "Our First Stone." When they refer to THE FIrst Stone it is specifically the one on display at the Grand Temple in Osect.   For those not dwarf-kin you could be forgiven for thinking that a mistake had been made when you see The First Stone. There is nothing to distinguish it from a medium sized stone you might see at the base of a cliff. It isn't polished, it doesn't have any sort of unusual luster, or a particularly strange shape. It is simply a plain rock. It weighs roughly 20 pounds, is grey with flecks of reddish brown and a bit oblong in shape. If you look closely you can see the dent on one end where a pickaxe struck, prying it from the mountain near where the entrance gates to Osect stand today.
"Just a - just A ROCK!? My friend I will have you know that this rock was pried from a cave in this mountain over ten thousand years ago. That rock survived the coming of the Storm Giants. It survived the fall of The Storm Giant Empire. It saw the start and the end of the Necromancer Wars. It was in front of this very stone that Gwendolyn Duskminer meditated before coming up with the rune layout for the platforms that now govern much of the Twilight Trade. Just a rock!? I suppose you look at a dragon and call it "just a lizard," perhaps Lone Gull is "just a bard." Bah!
