Hunter's Bane
Hunter's Bane, probably killers more people in the Ghostspider Forest than the spiders do, the spiders just take all the credit.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Hunter's Bane is a flowering plant. The main difference between it and just about every other flowering pland outh there is in how it spreads its seeds. But we will get to that.
as far as being a plant goes:
- roots, check
- stem, check
- leaves, check
Genetics and Reproduction
As previously discussed from each seed pod a sensing filament is extended to an anchor point. This is best viewed as a trigger. Once an animal break the filament, the seed shoots out of the pod with enough force to break the skin of most animals, feeling somewhat akin to a rather bad bug bite, or getting pricked by a thorn. At this point, most animals are doomed.
The seed germinates inside the animal. A toxin is released that affects the vision of the host animal, making them search out lighter, brighter areas as their vision fades over the next several days. As the roots of the plant start to spread through out their body they slowly loose mobility, until finally they succumb to paralysis. While all this is happening, the start of a Hunters bane sprout can be seen growing from the wound. Once the animal is paralyzed (often before) it is set upon by other predators of the ghostspider forest.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Other than its rather gruesome seedling stage Hunter's Bane is largely like every other plant, getting its nutrients through its roots and photosynthesizing food.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Liek some other species of plants, dandelions come to mind, hunter's bane "flowers" twice. the first is the actual flower, giving off a pleasant scent to pollinators and being, well, a flower. the second "flowering" its preparing its seed pods, of which there are either 6 or 8. This leads to its only real "extra" sense over regular plants. It extrudes, shoots really, fine filaments out from each pod extending out up to 20 feet until they hit an anchor point. These are touch sensitive.
