Gargoyle's Curse

The most famous, or possibly only, known case of someone coming out of the Gargoyle's Curse with their mind and body mostly intact is of course Relsk.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of the Bronze Ravens
The Gargoyle's Curse is one of the more exotic transformational curses out there. Unlike some other "flesh-to-stone" type curses it is incredibly rapid. Well, at least the initial part of turning a person to stone. After that changes start, the statue's mass shifting around to take on more gargoyle like features.   This is, perhaps, why Relsk was largely unaffected by it. Already being small, somewhat hunched, and being a Winged kobold, he didnt have far to change, other than the becoming stone part. Since people are left concious through this transformation the feeling of their body changing likely drives them insane.   Relsk enjoys several benefits from this transformation, unlike most. He can actually fly now, unlike most winged kobolds (this is due to the magical nature of gargoyles, as if normal winged kobols cant fly, one that weighs nearly 4 times more certainly would not be able to). Then there is the fact that like many denizens of the Plane of Earth, he can meld into and through stone surfaces, magical or mundane. A skill that has proven most useful to the Demigod of Thieves.   Granted, it took a while to not sound like grindstone while moving. It turns out joints made of stone, not that quiet. The extra weight also takes some getting used to, what with stone (at least the living stone gargoyles are made of) being somewhere between 3 and 5 times more dense than regular flesh and bone.   Again, most people so cursed we dont know about unless there are surviving members of their party. Relsk is the exception, not the rule. Most people so cursed become violent and instinct driven and end up needing to be magically bound, as a gargolye set to gaurd a building, or killedas the danger to society they are.
