Favortown's Underground

Dont let its sterling reputation fool you, there is a dark side to Favortown, but if you can stomach it the weath available to those willing to put in the work is truly staggering.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of The Bronze Ravens.
Ah yes, Favortown, a near utopic city where one can rub shoulders with greatness and fortunes are can be made in a fortnight, though not necessarily the type of fortune you may think. The the upper eschelons of the legendary home to Dude Fury and Alton the Brown doesn't run on gold and silver like the rest of the world, but on the preffered currency of the Fae Folk, favors.   Of course, not every favor is as easy (or wholesome) as retreiving a rare potion ingredient or clearing out an infestation of spiders or rats. There is a third power in Favortown, unknown to most. An illithid in exile, if one can believe it, Bobby the Flayer. Bobby brokers deals best left to dim basements and dark alleys, as well as running the largest gladitorial fight ring in the world.   Rulers are made or removed in deals made in Favortown. While you will never likely meet the actual person you are hiring, it is one of the only places in the wold where you can guarantee hiring the services of Tom Berry or an actual Rosary. What that will cost you is up for some debate, and no small ammount of negotiation.   The better known part of Bobby the Flayers empire, though, is the fight pits and arenas. Whether you are looking for a good old fashioned back-alley brawl or a more refined fencing duel, fame and fortune are available to you for a small initial entry fee and the knowledge that killing is expressly forbidden. Other than that, rules are as varried as the venues, at least when there are rules beyond "no killing."

"No killing"

The no killing rule is highly debated, after all there are numerous well documented cases of people departing their mortal coil in any number of bouts over the years. There are several explinations, any or all of which could be true.   On occasion a high level priest or cleric is standing by likely owing Bobby a favor for their current position. They are able to heal a body and summon a soul back from beyond death. This has been known to satiate a crowds bloodlust while allowing one to fake their own death in a highly public way.   There is also the possibility that you have broke your word and not honored a favor Bobby or others. Or someone traded in a favor for you to befall an "accident" in the ring. Of course you could not be dealing with Bobby at all, in which case all bets are off.
