Autumnrise Settlement in Kohtalo | World Anvil

Autumnrise

Elves the world over hold Autumnrise in a position of near religious significance. For the life of me I dont know why, you would think they would be pissed humans chopped down an ancient tree, made a throne out of its stump, and build a castle around it.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of the Bronze Ravens.

  • Autumnrise is a human settlement/kingdom, though all are welcome
  • The only trees that grown in Autumnrise (and AROUND most of the island) are Aspen trees.
  • City proper covers about 200 acres
  • World renown for producing lumber, but has no lumberjacks, all lumber comes from recently fallen aspen trunks.
  • Also know to produce exceptional sailing ships.
  • Citizens have eyes that strangely (for humans) range in color from red-orange to gold.
  • The Throne of Autumnrise was carved from the trunk of an ancient Aspen tree.
  • Symbol/Coat of Arms is an Aspen Leaf
  • Colors are White and Gold.
  • King/queen with council of advisors. King/queen is a lifetime appointment, but not inheritable. When one dies the next raised is the youngest of the advising council.
  • The council members are voted on by guild members, though most votes are unanimous.
  • Maintains no standing army
  • Has no city watch.
  • One of only 3 sources of Songwood in the world.
  • Somethign seems fishy here
Okay, yes, look, the whole thing is really one individual. A millenia old aspen tree that is quite possibly the oldest living thing on the planet. It was awakened (at some point) and has developed enough psychicly that it dominates all humans that live in the city. They still have some individual agency, but are much more.... organized than should be possible for a colony. Because everyone unconciously is psychically linked there is no need for a city guard or standign army, as no citizen would comit a crime and risk harming the whole, and it is easy to locat outsiders. Defense in the rare case of attack is coordinated, swift, and decisive, more so when the enemy seems confused and disoriented from the psychic assault of the tree itsself. All that being said, the people of Autumnrise maintain signifiacntly more individuality than what is observed in other hiveminds, as demonstrated by the common, but civil, disagreements on the Council of Advisors.
