Five Gardens

Overview

Stagrore houses the five major noble families: the House of Morality, the Gaunt Family, House Nuvelle, the Family of Clumount, and the House of Taxation. These five families are collectively known as the Five Gardens. It is thought that this naming convention began after each of the five families planted their family flower over the graves of the fallen during the Ghoslian War. However, the written history of this has been lost to time.   In addition to owning land in their respective regions, each family co-own Stagrore by decree of the Great Protector. Thus, each family is obligated to run the city under the supervision of the Great Protector. Although each family technically co-own the city, the House of Morality is informally considered the leader of the city with the House Nuvelle acting as a kingsguard. Despite this, each family still hold the tradition of rotating which family guards the Castle Mamori each month.

The House of Morality

The House of Morality is headed by Saleh Ibrahim. This house is in charge of providing protection to the city and enforcing the laws set by the Great Protector. This house owns the lands in the West containing Pitres County, Soleia County, and Fladowia County. Unlike the noble families known in our world, the land and power of this family is passed down to the oldest descendent, rather than the oldest "legitimate" son.

The Gaunt Family

The Gaunt Family is headed by Glausia Gaunt. This house is in charge of the logistics of running the city, such as supplying and acquiring food and materials and managing the postal services. Of the five, the Gaunt Family is the poorest family. The Gaunt Family owns the lands north of the city in Scorross County. Unlike the noble families known in our world, the land and power of this family is passed down to the oldest descendent, rather than the oldest "legitimate" son.

House Nuvelle

House Nuvelle is headed by Otilia Nuvelle. This house is in charge of diplomacy and espionage. House Nuvelle and the House of Morality historically have had a positive relationship to the point that it is sometimes hard to distinguish the families in a crowd. The house's symbol is purple-tinted half-plate armor. This house owns the land in the far north of the country in Heartia County. The land and power inheritance tradition of this family is unique in that all descendents of the current ruler are eligible to inherit this house's land and power. Only by majority vote of the descendents may someone be named the inheritor.

The Family of Clumount

The Family of Clumount is headed both by Zamar and Waitara Clumount, though Zamar by law holds the seat in the Five Gardens. This house is in charge of maintaining the history, traditions, and culture of Ghoslia. This house owns the land containing Chilows County and Boulhand County on the eastern side of the country. This family has a unique method of determining the inheritor of land and power: land and power are inherited by the first adopted child of the ruling family.

the House of Taxation

The House of Taxation is headed by Andre-Jepter Smith-Estella-Ahmed-Abdul-Holland-Jenson-Guerra-Doyle Yanny-Ortiz-Babu-Semenov-Giles-Miller-Ortega-Rafsky, commonly referred to Andre Tax. The House of Taxation is in charge of the finances of the city. This house owns the lands to the North-West which contain Claymond County. Unlike the noble families known in our world, the land and power of this family is passed down to the oldest descendent, rather than the oldest "legitimate" son. Of the five, the House of Taxation is the only noble family founded after the founding of the Protectorate of Ghoslia.   Due to his family's tradition of passing on the last names of their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents, this house's name had to be renamed to the House of Taxation.
