Typically stored in blocks, it's melted into a sticky paste and poured over raw infitialis to stabilise the metal for transport. The process leaves an oily residue in the pot and a sickly sweet smell that can char the lungs if deliberately inhaled.   Because of its toxic properties, and being a formula made from relatively cheap materials, it is also used as a poison.
