High Mother
The High Mother began as a Domian deity, known as the Great Mother. Her statues and reliefs often depict her as a many-armed pregnant woman.
Tenets of Faith
As a whole, the temple takes in orphaned babes and feed them with their own milk, raising them until they are of age. Priestesses of the High Mother rarely wear anything beyond skirts, often due to the fact they are rarely found not nursing a baby. In counter, the children tend to be clothed from neck to toe.
Whilst some have tried to buy the children, who are taught according to the old ways, the priestess’ never allow a single one of their children to enter the slave market.
Generally, they’re trained for priesthood, with young women often remaining in service to the High Mother, whilst young men are adopted into other sects. There have been occasions where mass clashes arose from within Minamist’s temple district over which sect would get the apprentice priests.
Much of their wealth is donated by the people. Priestesses are often seen strolling through the temple district seeking alms of the succour, sometimes with a young girl in tow to carry their tributes.
