Phantoms are the spirits of deceased humans who devoted themselves to a particular task to the point of continuing it even in death. Most phantoms were members of a church's clergy in life, and consider becoming a phantom a blessing from their god or gods. The generation of ectoplasm upon contact with a purified object is seen as a valuable sorce of alchemical ingredients and extra income.

If on the off chance a phantom becomes restless, they can be easily exorcised by feeding them a dish laced with wine and ectoplasm.
