Zakol Species in Knight Realms: Arawyn | World Anvil

Zakol

ADVISORY: This Species requires approval before being played.   Zakol (Pronounced ) are descendants of demons, either with an ancestral tie revived in their bloodline or the direct offspring of a demonic parent and a parent of any race or species capable of reproducing with the demon. Demons will pick a large variety of species and attempt to raise their children away from the major populated cities and towns in an effort to not be hunted. On occasion, these offspring may be taken back to the abyss but, as beings native to the material plane, they do not have the natural immunities to survive the abyss and special precautions need to be made.   Zakol age at the same rate as the species of their non-demonic parent. Zakol tend to show signs from their bloodline such as horns, fangs, wings, or tails and are most frequently tied to an element as part of their demonic lineage. These elemental markings are often visible near their eyes, but may also be found on other parts of their body.   All Zakol often lean toward chaotic tendencies and, without a great amount of effort, struggle with what is considered order in society. Without that effort, they are known to be rebellious and subversive although the methods in which this is realized varies greatly. While there are some that can be full of wrath that will fight anyone that crosses them, others are deceptive and patient waiting for the opportune moment to get their revenge.   There are very few places where a Zakol can live without any active suspicion as most places do not understand Zakol. They see a demon first, an enemy of their realm, and rarely take the time to ask questions. They often cross paths with Witch Hunters throughout Arawyn who have picked up contracts to hunt down demons and their kin.   While Zakol in Travance have it somewhat better than in the rest of the world, the laws do not protect them for their mistakes and because of the cultural, economic and development hub that Travance is, mistakes are often weighed more heavily there. To actively shun the law and allow their heritage to completely influence them, invites whatever hardships that entails in this powerful land.
