Basic Geography

Unless stated otherwise, our heroes are gathered in Travance Proper, sometimes only called Travance or The Proper. Travance is located within the Barony of Travance, which is one of the Baronies of the Kingdom of Kormyre. The Kingdom of Kormyre is located on the continent of Palmydia. Arawyn is the name of the world all these places inhabit.   Arkovnia, Glangsdale, Ravenhurst, Fenrick and Talenthal are the other Baronies within Kormyre. However, Travance is the only Barony located to the East of a landmark known as The Rift, a large dangerous chasm that sundered Palmydia into two.   The Barony of Travance is made up of Lands. In our game these lands are groups that players may join.

The Lands

Alisandria: This Land is known as the ‘breadbasket’ of Travance as it provides much of the Barony’s agricultural goods. Unfortunately within this land however resides the blighted Fields of Fallow, under the control of undead tyrant Lord Fallow. This Land’s colors are red and white.   Drega’mire: This land is known for its numerous ports and trade that results because of them. It is also known for its wetlands and marshlands, sometimes referred to ungenerously as a ‘swamp’. With many places to dock with it's impressive Ports, this land is very popular for seafaring peoples. This Land’s colors are red and black.   Kaladonia: This land is known for its lush and dense woods that many of the resident Selendrian Elves as well as Faeriekin protect from those who would cut it down only for profit. However, the lumber the Land Provides is essential to the Barony. This Land’s colors are Green and White   Pendarvin: The mountainous snow capped land of Pendarvin is the home to Honor’s Peak, a large mountain in which the River Hope is sourced. This mountain and river source, is what carries the nutrients necessary to the fertile fields of Alissandria. Pendarvin exports many constructed or farmed goods that find the ability to flourish within its high elevations. This Land’s colors are Blue and White.   Ostcliff: This land is sometimes referred to as Mordavia. This land is filled with many dangerous fauna and flora in a land that is still very wild and untamed. This Land does not boast a specific export or service, rather its greatest asset are its people who are able to survive on little and provide a variety of services and labor. This Land’s colors are Green and Black.   Albriar: This is the newest land within the Barony of Travance, consisting of most of the leftover neutral land of the Barony. It includes places such as Valdalis Crossroads, Stonefall and Illenvard. This land serves an important purpose of being the vector in which Travance handles the Valdalis Trade Hub. Illenvard is the largest city within Albriar. This land profits and exports its inventions and advancements through its ingenious populace. This Land’s colors are Purple and White.

Magic

In our World, those who cast magic make use of a network of metaphysical power called The Weave. This conduit is used by the most basic of spell casters to the most trained ritualists. Those with minimal training utilize it without much understanding how it works, but as they become more trained with it may learn how to see it and more specifically manipulate it as their powers progress.

Premise of Antagonists

Many antagonists and evil things are lured towards Travance because of The Inverted Tower, a large tower that Arawyn inverted into the earth to hold a creature prisoner. This tower is said to hold something awful and so dangerous that if it was to escape it would destroy everything it touches. However, its evil is able to reach far and wide within Arawyn, often beckoning villains subconsciously to try and lure them here to release it from its home within the 50th floor of the tower.

Heroic Souls

Heroes in this world are considered to have heroic souls, meaning that they can resurrect a number of times before the soul is too weak to return. This is an anomaly compared to the majority of Arawyn. Most people, when they die, are not able to resurrect. Even a person with a heroic soul does not know narratively how many times they may return before they are dead forever.

The Gods

While there are many beings in the world that can be worshiped, the more prevalent are the Eodrean Gods. These gods oversee in a religious sense many aspects of people's lives, from connections to authority to the afterlife. These gods are: Valos, Andorra, Galladel, Gaia, Malyc, Agauara, Glomm, Galmachis, Enax, Chronicler, Brazen and Visigalis.

Alignment at a Glance

At the beginning of the World's Creation all the powers of the world were manifested.Astral energy existed seperately and is the most neutral of all powers. From Astral energy would come Genesis, the power of creation. Genesis is the building block of life on Arawyn as well as the Spirit Realm. Druids and healers tap into the power of Genesis regularly to fuel their spells. It's opposing force Entropy is a destructive force that interrupts and errodes away at creation and reality, but in more refined and powerful forms is a necessary force that provides things like gravity to the world. The Abyss and the Void are commanded by the powers of Entropy.   Positive and Negative Energy are building block forces that sprung forth as well at Arawyn's creation. Positive and Negative energy are powers that influence the flow of how other energies interact. Over time these powers involved as they interacted with other powers and the residents of Arawyn and eventually became Good and Evil. The intensity and evolution of these powers are described in name:

Positive energy refers to Good’s least influential form, Light being more influential, and Good being the final evolution of this power and its most intense form.

Conversely, for Evil, Negative energy refers to its least influential form, Dark as a more influential form, and Evil as the final evolution and most intense form.
