Troll - Darkwood Tribalists

Generic troll information

Trolls, not to be mistook for their significantly shorter goblin cousins or the far larger and less intelligent rocktroll, are about as humanoid in appearance as the goblinoid family tree goes. with the largest exceptions being massive protuding goblinoid ears, a firm drooping nose and wide tusked jaws. Their forms stand a shy bit shorter than the average humanoid height, though they have taller arms with more bulk and a bushy tail which gives the troll balance surperior to any other goblinoid species. Long have scholars debated wether they were actually a humanoid, which argument was broken by the massive disproportion from the far rarer troll women that tower above their male counterpart.   In nature, the trolls versatility with both a powerfull physique and resistance towards toxins and disease, accompanied by an abnormal regenerative ability allowed them to easily dominate the frontiers which other races could not easily tame.   Hence why scholars find it odd that they are so peacefull and nature loving as their strength and intellectual capacity is on par with dwarves, with a mind extremely adaptive to creating new ingenious solutions to both problems and warfare. Their humble nature may be the cause of their social aspect as a species, where loyality to kin and family combined with decensy and kindness is often valued above all.   Their gift of magic isn't lacking either, as they are almost on level with the faye creatures affinity for magic. Rather than magic stemming from their biology though, spirituality drives them to preserve magical energy in it's original shape by melding it within their souls. Hence, troll clans usually focus only on two or three aspects of magical domains and combine it with alchemy. An art to which they are religiously devoted. The mystral energies which most humanoids feel from magic are to trolls and their culture blessings from holy spirits, both dark and light.

Darkwood culture and history

What seperates The Darkwood Tribalists from the Niflrcold and Rainwood Great Tribes is their devotion to the cycle of life and death. Nature and decay. Though contrary to their name it's an edge that is quite dull. They believe in wisdom above all and are the least reclusive of the Great Tribes. Darkwoods are convinced that hiding away from the growing societies of their world is a missed opportunity.   A majority of the Darkwood trolls have since thousands of years back traded and formed bonds with the human villages of Goldburg. A union between masters of transmutators and alchemists of science combined with the old, never failing traditions of shamans and druids have always painted the trolls with respect in the eyes of Goldburg aristocracy, and their selfless aid towards the poor and sickly did wipe away any greiviances between the two folks since long ago.   Even after the great war of Peregon, and with the four great catastrophies destroying a good portion of the troll ancestral lands, they still held onto their friendship with the humans of the land. Even though many Nightbridge and Dawnshire based groups saw them as little more than primitive beasts. Instead of sharing in their ire towards troll culture, most of Goldburg with the exception of Goldwick itself embraced the trolls that now needed a new home as their very own people.   Darkwood Clans:
Shadowshapers - The largest clan, which remained in the depth of the Deepforest.
Nightblades - The second largest clan, resides in darkness and carries an ire towards mankind for what they did their ancestral land.
Earthspeaker Tribe - The third largest clan, spread around different human villagers in smaller shamanistic communities.
Wavespear Tribe - The fourth largest clan, integrated to Northport society.
Marrowkeepers - The fifth largest clan, resides in Nightbridge near Cendregon.
The Tribesless - The sixth largest 'clan', resides in the bigger towns or cities and embraced human civilization fully.
Pumpkincarvers - The smallest clan. Nobody knows where they live but only that they appear around autumn to sell Jack o' Lanterns.

Darkwood appearances

While the general anatomy remain mostly the same for all the Great Tribes, the Darkwood generally have more softer, woodlike colour on their skin which ranges from an oaklike light brown, to deep green or even a pale white. Their hair is also more bushy with most of the males growing it on their chin rather than their heads.   Their eyes are often speckled with darker tones in green, brown or black irises that don't glow in the night, even through their whites are as white as any other creature with white whites. They also tend to have shorter and slimmer, but far sharper tusks than their northern or southern kin, which are too hard to just puncture through by different means.
