The Illuminated Society of Mau
The largest and most public of the cat religious groups, the Illuminated Society is a group of Ministers dedicated to the pursuit of enlightenment for all cats, enabling them to communicate with their past and future lives. Builders of great Temples of the Nine, the Ministers see it as their duty to tend to the spiritual needs of all cats... which includes providing for their spiritual privacy.
Each temple is constructed not only with a common area for the public, but also private chambers with secret entrances and exits for use by other smaller, secretive religious orders.
Mythology & Lore
Mankind, the now lost servants of cats, gave cats the gift of nine lives. Ministers of the faith now serve their fellow cats in communing with their past and future lives.

Ethics
Enlightenment is viewed by the society as an extremely individual process, thus, the ministers support and guide their fellow cats in following their own paths, which may include other religions or societies.
It is considered dishonorable to break the trust of other cats by disclosing their secrets.
Priesthood
Ministers tend to the spiritual needs of all cats, and are sworn to keep the secrets of others. They are not permitted to keep any record of who attends the temple, or details about any secret sect, society or religion using the temple as a meeting place.
