Palace Library

As the King's seat of power and his family's residence, the Royal Palace in Lenen is an important place for keidrish culture. As such, a library is not simply a room full of books, it is a necessity, since it holds not only fictional works, but also copious amounts of knowledge. From science to medicine to history, many topics are represented in the Palace Library. Sheet music, maps and a few pieces of fine art can also be found here.

The library consists of one large room with many shelves full of books and is found on the ground floor in the east wing of the palace's main building, right next to the throne room and the council chamber. This allows the King and his Council of Masters quick and easy access to all of its contents, should anything need to be referenced during their meetings.

The library is kept by the Master of Books and usually one or two helpers. They assist the Master in his daily tasks and are also in charge of the library, should the Master of Books be away on business or otherwise incapacitated. Only the highest ranks of the royal household and staff are permitted to freely use the library any time, others do need permission from such a person or the Master of Books himself to use it.

The palace is to no small amount populated by soldiers and serving staff, who do not use the library, making it a place that is usually fairly quiet.

For that exact reason, it is among the favourite rooms of both Queen Lupera and her son Esmir. That, and the fact that both love to read and to learn.

Especially for Esmir, the library is one of the few places where he can usually exist without the expectations and responsibilities that come with the title of Crown Prince and, eventually, King.
