James R. Adler

Second lieutenant James Russell Adler (a.k.a. Jimmy)

2LT James Russell Adler (17th February 1890 – 19th June 1917) was a Etorean Expeditionary Force officer. He was killed in action at the Battle of Köningen in 1917.   The son of a Railway Contractor, Adler joined 5th Infantry Division as a cadet in 1905. A jockey by trade, during the early part of his career he initially enrolled to become part of a cavellry regiment, before joining the territorial army in 1910. In 1913, he was enrolled in RMA Ambion before graduating as a Second Lieutenant. At the Battle of Köningen in 1917, Adler was killed in action during a bayonete charge. One of his sons was killed on D-Day some 27 years later.
