Charles-Louis
Prince Karel (a.k.a. Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte)
Charles-Louis was Prince of Holland. Born Charles-Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, the "Napoleon" portion dropped after greater conflict with France by decree of his father, King Louis I. At the ascension of his brother, Louis II, to the throne of Holland, he was granted the title of Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
In 1859, inspired by the idea of Italian unification, Charles took with him an army of volunteers to assist Piedmont-Sardinia in their war against Sicily. This conflict secured the acquisition of the Roman Republic into Piedmont-Sardinia, but Charles also negotiated the Pope's return to Rome in order to placate the Catholic population back home.
