Kima

Age of the New Dawn

The Laws of Kima

Kima's runs on a softer system of magic. There are groundwork rules, but no specific spells or ingredients to make things work. It should also be noted that the "rules" that the characters think they know, are not the actual rules of the world. That is misinformation. There are fantastical creatures, terrifying beasts, and mages that can do far more than they should be able to.

Cosmology

The most prevalent creation myth is that of Sun, the Moon, and their children, the Mountain, the Wind, the River, the Cloud, the Trees, and Fire. This differs from the beliefs of the Ancients, who thought that it was dragons who created the world. However, the world was really born of mojy, "magic." While most modern Kimans think that magic came from the Earth, the reverse is true. Magic runs deep in every fiber of the world, or, at least it used to. It is running thin, and the world is slowly becoming devoid of magic. Kima is the last place where magic is consistently found and used. This is because Kima was the birthplace of the rest of the world. Everything started here, and it will end here.

Principal Geography & Features

Kima is very geographically diverse. This is due in part to its size, but also to the abundance of magic. Each region has an overarching geological feature. The Katzan Cape, to the far north, is marked by snowy mountains, icy seas, and towering evergreen forests. The Lumarien Plains are flat and devoid of trees, perfect for the nomadic people who live t here. The Strica Seaboard is covered in deposits of precious metals, mountains, and harsh, dry soil. Ephemere is named for its massive lakes that formed when the world was young and have yet to dry up. Avadale has a balance of features, framed by mountains to the east and the largest forest on the continent to the west. The Chema Expanse has rich soil, gorgeous vistas, and a seaside view. The terrifying Mt. Vyšnak in the northern peninsula of Chema is known for its violent eruptions. Some legends claim that they herald the birth of a dragon, but that's never been proven. The land surrounding it is black and dead. However, some sailors have claimed there remains a lone green spot near the volcano, shimmering with a magical aura. No one has ever been able to reach it.

Initial Active Setting

The active setting is the continent of Kima. There will be people from other continents, but those lands have outlawed magic, so no mages from Kima have any reason to go there.
