Declining magic in the land of Udira led to a famine that lasted decades. Around that time, a similar affliction hit Kima. Scholars later came to the conclusion that it was due to the massive usage of aleksium in the continent. Once aleksium usage died down, it took awhile, but the famine in Kima eventually ended.
