The Ascendant Group Party - AGP

In Kiannon, there are three main organizations that play powerful roles in the Settlement of the planet Kiannon II.  The organizations are the Founders Sect, The Council of the Mothership, and the Ascendant Group Party (AGP).  This post is focused on the Ascendant Group Party.  The AGP began when the Mothership began waking sleepers up.  
When they were awake, it became clear that many of the goals that were important to the mission objectives of the initial leaders of the Council of the Mothership were on at all aligned with the a group of wealthier colonists who had lucked out, finagled or bribed their way onto the last sleeper ship leaving Earth.  Among them was a man named Erol Talbot.  Erol started the faction known as the AGP.  With their support, they were able to gain a Mothership Council seat that would continue to be a thorn in the side of the Founders Sect for many years. 
Once the colonists landed on Cathay, the AGP had considerable sway with merchants.  Many of the remaining colonists remembered the stories their parents and grandparents had told them about the state of the Earth when the Mothership departed.  Many of those memories and stories recalled the spoiling of the planet.  If they weren't Founders Sect disciples, they at least nominally clung to the principle that any progress made by the colony needed to be in harmony with the the planet they settled.  There needed to be give and take.  There needed to be some consideration given to nature so that it could flourish alongside the colonists, not at the expense of the colonists.  
The Council of the Mothership was created to be a final seat of judgment for the future government of the colony.  Those twelve seats would assess the claims made by the colonists and reach a compromise that would align with the tenets of the original leaders of the Mothership Council.  
The AGP has spent most of the time on Kiannon trying to expand beyond the reach and awareness of the Founders Sect and the Mothership.  It has gained a couple more seats on the Council and is always working to bend the guidelines set out by the original leaders of the Mothership Council.  The Founders Sect has set itself up as the opponent of the AGP and is continually pushing back.
