Mothership Satellite Network

The Mothership is permanently tied to the Colony on Kiannon II.  With the Mothership comes all of its resources and capabilities.  The mothership has sent out multiple satellites to circle the globe of Kiannon.  Every settlement and outpost has the ability to receive and send messages to the satellites that can them be sent to any point on the globe where a Mothership satellite is positioned.  So the Mothership has the ability to scan the planet, but communication is dependent on the end-points having a receiver and the users to have devices that can communicate with the network.     Even Scouts have access to the Mothership network via their communication devices, but the knowledge that they are connected does not mean that someone can come rescue them if they encounter trouble.  Transports from the Mothership are prioritized for medical emergencies and Settlement needs.  Messages can be encrypted with high level or low-level encryption, depending on the need.     There are times when the network connection is a bit patchy - say during the Seasonal Thunderstorms on the Esle Plains - but generally, messages can be sent or calls connected as needed.  Calls can even be made between packet ships, airships and other places on Kiannon.  The colony may still be a bit rough around the edges in Eldritch and at the outposts, but the technology provided and empowered by the Mothership has made settling Kiannon a lot easier than early off-world colonies.   The Mothership is like an umblical cord that has not yet been cut off. Unless the technology or some other unforeseen disaster take place, it will likely continue to support the colony's expansion across the rest of Kiannon II.  In spite of the low-level conflict between the Founders Sect and the AGP, no one sees that occurring any time soon.  Both sides are too dependent on the Mothership's resources.
