Prince Phereclus, like nearly all the royalty hailing from the Sapphire Citadel, has devoted his entire life to martial skill and military excellence in the name of his city state. As he was born in a time of peace, Phereclus himself attained only his very earliest training at home, then left to squire with the far flung Knights Deathseekers at a young age. He returned a man and a knight with years of experience fighting the undead. The Bold Prince has been through two Succession processes in his life, and was a strong contender both times. In his first run at the monarchy, his military experience was a blessing and a curse, each twice over. He was by far the most competent at war of the competitors, and often seen as gallant and honorable for his leal service. By the same token, his opponents painted him as war mongering or ill-prepared for peace, and attempted to raise concerns about foreign loyalties through his time in the Knights Deathseekers. There are no official ranking of such things, but most would say that Phereclus was the effective runner-up, and not by a wide margin. Accumulating additional years of exemplary military service, as well as leading his house through peacetime meant that the prince entered his second competition in an even stronger position than before, but this time he was utterly defeated relatively early, and by his own hand. For a prince or princess withdrawing from the running, there are usually two options. You can declare for a candidate and join their faction, or you can abstain, and swear an oath of fealty to the throne itself, promising to respect the results and serve whomever is chosen. Prince Phereclus bucked over a thousand years of tradition, and instead swore an oath of fealty to then-Princess Eriphyle as if she were already queen.
Education
Prince Phereclus received initial training from well-respected officers in the Lebotonian army and nobility of his own house, but quickly transitioned to a squireship for actual combat experience. Only after receiving his knighthood did he enroll at the University of Oros, Where he graduated from the College of Crowns and took additional courses at the College of Cavalry.
