Personal history
From a young age, Leicritus dreamed of following in his grandfather's footsteps and becoming a great ritualist. His focus on that goal was intense enough to carry him to great and early successes in the field, but also enough that other areas suffered. Notably, his moniker was originally an insult coming from an utter and public failure at an assessment of his skill with combat magic. Leicritus took the jeers personally, but responded in an indirect fashion. Even to this day his skill at combat magic, or any sort of spontaneous casting, is significantly below average. He has, however, become an undisputed leader in the fields of strategy and tactics. It's entirely likely that those who meet him now take his moniker seriously and never realize its origin. Leicritus is somewhat odd for the members of Libria's Mage Council in that the upheavals following the rise of Archelaos had almost no effect on his professional status or day to day work. He continues studying ritual magic, assisting Archytas with a litany of research projects, and involving himself deeply with all of Libria's war councils. The focus of those councils has changed from primarily defensive to significantly offensive, but not even their schedule has changed.
Education
Leicritus attended the Oceanic Academy of Wizardry for a time like most of his peers, but he left the school far earlier than most due to his complete focus on a narrow and somewhat uncommon part of the Practice. Most of his continuing education has effectively been independent study with access to his grandfather's notes and occasional direct oversight.
