Personal history
Icarion has been a fixture of the Librian military for a full generation. He first rose to prominence on a daring counter raid, rescuing Librian captives, and taking some of his own during the last war with Philos. He repeatedly distinguished himself, making a habit of leading from the front. It was those exploits that endeared him to the people of Libria, but the government found even more impressive his ability to find other impressive individuals, or perhaps create them. An enormously disproportionate number of his subordinates would accomplish great things and rise higher. Despite all this Icarion himself was passed over for promotion repeatedly due to concerns about his unapologetically expansionist views in the face of multiple successive Archons dedicated to maintaining peace whenever possible. Icarion was among the first to welcome Archelaos to the city and appears to be a true believer, going so far as to convert to Kyzu worship. It was through Icarion that Archelaos managed to gain significant control of the military before personally executing his coup.
Education
Icarion was clearly destined for a military track even from a young age, but attending the War College at the Imperial University in Solaire marked him as serious command material. Graduating with the coveted Solar Eagle medal and the commendation of several legates meant he could not fail to attain a high rank.
